Novena - St. Teresa of Avila

Novena to St. Teresa of Avila

by St. Alphonsus of Liguori - Doctor of the Church

To be prayed by the Apostoli Viae community beginning on October 7th and ending on October 15th, the Feast of St. Teresa. Our prayer in 2019 is for the following intentions:

  1. For the intentions of and holiness of Pope Francis
  2. For the protection and elevation of faithful Laity, Religious, Priests, Bishops, and Cardinals.
  3. For the suppression and repentance of all those who sow confusion and untruth in the Church.
  4. For the outcome of the Amazonian synod that it would advance the Kingdom of God and the authentic magisterium.
  5. For the High Calling Program of the Avila Institute - for the men discerning the priesthood and for the financial needs of the program.
  6. For the financial needs of Apostoli Viae and the Avila Foundation.
  7. For all of the spiritual and temporal needs of all participating in Apostoli Viae and their families.

Day 1: O most amiable Lord Jesus Christ! We thank Thee for the great gift of faith and of devotion to the Holy Sacrament, which Thou didst grant to Thy beloved Teresa; we pray Thee, by Thy merits and by those of Thy faithful spouse, to grant us the gift of a lively faith, and of a fervent devotion toward the most Holy Sacrament of the altar; where Thou, O infinite Majesty! hast obliged Thyself to abide with us even to the end of the world, and wherein Thou didst so lovingly give Thy whole Self to us. Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be.

Amen.

Day 2: O most merciful Lord Jesus Christ! we thank Thee for the great gift of hope which Thou didst grant to Thy beloved Teresa; we pray Thee, by Thy merits, and by those of Thy holy spouse, to give us a great confidence in Thy goodness, by reason of Thy Precious Blood, which Thou hast shed to its last drop for our salvation. I find that many prayers by St Alphonsus Ligouri very enriching to my soul. He is a Doctor of the Church that I hope to read more about as well as find more of his prayers.

I’m in! These intentions are spot on! Prayer combined with the fasting Card. Burke and Bishop Schneider have called for will hopefully fulfill what Jesus told us... “some demons are only driven out by prayer and fasting.”
