Saints know nothing of snooze buttons. Because they know nothing of snooze buttons, they know much of encountering God in the sublime silence of the early dawn.
Our bodies, our lower natures seek to own us. Our flesh is ever ready to rule and guide us and take the place of God. This is why we have such harsh language provided by the Holy Spirit through St. Paul:
"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, indeed it cannot; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God." Romans 8:5-8
Thus, every time we give in to our lower nature instead of ordering it to God, we give it more power over us until we become nearly incapable of turning back to God.
Every time we press the snooze button instead of getting up to pray, the devil owns another little piece of us and God is robbed, unjustly ignored, set aside, rejected; all for the comfort of a bed.
This is how we trade eternity in heaven for the flesh, small decision by small decision, step by step, for a place where all the other snoozers have no rest for all of eternity.
