What does your face say?
If your face was the only Gospel another might ever know, what does your face communicate? This is worth a moment of serious consideration. You might even ask folks who know you well if they see joy and a positive attitude in you.
Saint Teresa of Calcutta said,
“Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don't only give your care, but give your heart as well.” ... “Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.”
“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile. Joy shows from the eyes. It appears when we speak and walk. It cannot be kept closed inside us. It reacts outside. Joy is very infectious.” ... “Joy is the net of love in which you can catch souls.”
Joy is frequently mentioned in the mission and foundational document of Apostoli Viae. To evangelize the world, inside and outside the Church, to demonstrate our love and care for one another, the Gospel must not only be on our lips, but also in our eyes and in our smile. We must radiate the love of God such that others desire to know how it is we can know joy in the midst of the storm. Then, when they ask, we can lead them to our Refuge, and our Comfort in the storm, Yeshua Hamashiach.
